ESCOWELD® Training Seminars
Every type of machinery or equipment in a plant environment requires a suitable foundation and mounting system involving grout. Pumps, turbines, generators, fans blowers, fluid drives, compressors, mills, pulverizers, conveyors and others all share the same requirements. They must maintain proper support and permanent alignment. If they don't, the result is poor performance and high operating costs.  Proper grouting and foundation design play a tremendous part in achieving efficient performance!

If you have an interest in reducing operating costs while extending machinery MTBF and foundation life-span, Chockfast® Educational Seminars are a must for everyone involved concerned with proper equipment installation and operating efficiency:

Common Foundation Problems Discussed
in Chockfast® Training Seminars
Oil
Oil impregnation into the foundation is one of the most common problems within a plant environment.
Vibration
Foundations which experience high physical shock loads and continuous vibration are likely to experience loose soleplates.
Poor Adhesion
Cementitious grout in machinery applications often experiences deterioration of it's adhesive bond to the concrete foundation and to the steel soleplates, base plates and skids which it is supporting.
Chemicals
Many types of chemicals found in industrial processes can permeate and quickly deteriorate foundations in many industrial environments.
Moisture and Chlorides
Many foundations are continuously subjected to moisture.  Coastal areas have additional problems caused by salt water introducing chlorides into the concrete, causing rebar and base plate corrosion.
Heat and Thermal Cycling
Cycles of temperature have an adverse affect on foundations.  Cracks, fragmentation and delimitation of existing grout from the concrete foundation are some of the results of heat and thermal cycling.
Age
Age has taken the toll on many plant machinery foundations.  The longer a foundation is in service,  the longer it is subjected to many or all of the conditions mentioned above.
Poor Design & Installation
Many machinery and foundation problems such as misalignment, base plate voids and cracks can be attributed to improper preparation and grouting procedures during the initial installation.   A poor approach to foundation design will also create long-term, debilitating effects to machinery & equipment performance.
Conventional Pump Base Plate Grouting,
Pre-Grouting & Field Epoxy Grouting Techniques
This common-sense course will cover all aspects of conventional base plate grouting and the beneficial technique of pre-grouting base plates at the factory with guidelines used for installation pre-grouted base plates in the field.

If you have an interest in reducing pump operating costs while extending MTBF and foundation life-span, ESCOWELD® Educational Seminars are a must for everyone concerned with proper foundation and pump base plate design & installation.

During the course of this seminar we discuss various topics pertaining to:

STANDARD PUMP BASE PLATE
INSTALLATION PRACTICES

• Foundation Design/Base plate Design
• Acceptable equipment operating conditions when using epoxy grouts
• Acceptable surface preparation and primer systems for base plates when using epoxy grouts
• Concrete surface preparation
• Anchor bolt design and preparation when using epoxy grouts
• Base plate leveling techniques
• Foundation forming techniques when using epoxy grouts
• Epoxy grout mixing and placement techniques
• Conditioning procedures for epoxy grout/concrete foundation and base plate

PRE-GROUTED BASE PLATE PROCEDURES AND ADVANTAGES
• Reduced installation costs
• Field man-hours saved
• Improved effective bearing area
• Easier cleaning and inspection of base plates
• Void-free surface contact – grout to base plate
• Controlled environment for grout placement and curing

PRE-GROUTED BASE PLATE PROCEDURES
• Inspection report
• Disassembly
• Clean, seal and invert base plate
• Level and support grout fill holes
• Post-grout curing procedures
• Verification of machine surface flatness
• Machining of base plate
• Post-machining inspection report
• Re-assembly and final pre-alignment

PRE-GROUTED BASE PLATE FIELD INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
• Leveling procedure
• Forming the equipment foundation
• Grout head boxes for placement
• Grout placement
• Finished base plates

This seminar is also designed to provide general information regarding the use of epoxy grout for pump installations and to provide proven techniques that insure a 100% void free installation.
